'Battle for Terra' aka 'Terra'

Has anyone seen this animated picture?

A lot of potential with this film, but it leaves you with the feeling that something was missing; and that 'something missing' seemed to be the middle part....the drama where we get into the characters and find out what makes each side tick, and those sides are: The aliens (i.e the humans)....and the natives....

One of my favorite films is The Incredibles, and I like the way that film didn't shy away from the 'adult stuff'...infidelity, sex, etc. With Battle for Terra, we have violence towards innocents that occurs in a lengthy battle sequence.

I would like to hear what others thought of this film....

Long story short: didn't care about the characters and the Environmentalist message was a subtle as a rattlesnake in an echo chamber...

^^
Yeah, there might have been something like that going on.

While watching this film, I couldn't help but think of Avatar (and I still have yet to see the movie). There was obvious attraction between the native girl and the alien Caucasian human...and, IIRC, there was some 'jealousy' with a native male who liked the girl....

OTOH, we had characters such as President Chan, who we never learn about...or even the surviving humans whom we're just giving exposition about and nothing more...

There was so many different ways they could have gone with this, but....:(

I thought that it was a pretty good movie. The only real flaw IMHO was that it was a bit too short and didn't develop the characters/storyline as much as they could have but what we got in terms of the music, visuals (loved the ship designs), and voice talents were good and the film never really felt like it dragged at any point. It dealt with some pretty weighty themes for an animated movie (although I would say that animated doesn't always have to mean kiddified- see what they've been able to do with Star Wars: The Clone Wars) Now that I've seen Avatar, I would say that there ARE a lot of similarities between the two movies, particularly in terms of the conflict between humans and other species where the humans are clearly portrayed as the aggressors- but that there are some humans willing to risk themselves for the survival of the natives.
