Batman vs Superman Lois helipad scene (and 3 other things). (should this be fanfic or Misc?)

Andy Hong

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
There were 4 things that I would have changed...

1: I wouldn't have "special untraceable bullets" that are easy to trace if you know what you are looking for (it's like polonium - very hard to detect if you don't know what you're looking for, very easy to detect once you do). Instead I would have had guns that fired heat ray and cold breath (SO AS TO FRAME SUPERMAN....by you know, REPLICATING SOME OF HIS POWERS?! Rather than whatever they did in the movie - special bullets...something?).

2: Lois isn't realistically going to go near the edge of a helipad with someone she knows is psychotic. So, I would have done it as: Lex does his speaking. Then moves towards Lois. Who is distinctly aware of the large drop she's near.
Lex: "....pretty little road called Lois Lane"
Lois: (whirls around) "Touch me and I'll break your arm!"
Lex: (smiles): "Oh, I don't doubt that."
Lex jauntily saunters 5-10 feet away from Lois, and sits down. Lois looks confused.
Lex: "Hold". Restraints come out of nowhere and secure Lex.
Lois looks shocked and confused.
Lex: (almost gleeful): "Tilt!"
Lois gasps and looks horrified. Too late has she realised what's going to happen.
The whole helipad suddenly tilts 30-45 degrees! She cries out and frantically tries to grab something as she slides out of control. She manages to grab a grill/mesh on the edge of the helipad. But she's losing her grip!
Lois: "No, please....I can't hold on!"
Lex: (grinning, either evilly, or flippantly/jauntily evilly): "I know!"
Lois loses her grip and screams.as she falls.

3: "WHY ARE THEY FIGHTING?!" When Lex tells Superman he can't kill Lex, I would have had Superman immediately use "exact words" (can't kill Lex or fly away) and kidnap Lex, taking him to Batman, so as to expose Lex's plan to Batman. EXCEPT Lex had a kryptonite infused gas bottle containing a mix of Joker Juice/Red Skull Dust of Death and Scarecrow Fear-Gas hidden on him (and/oror maybe in Batman's armour?), which detonated and infected both Batman and Superman. (Lex having taken the antidote beforehand), Lex gleefully saying "I knew this might happen!". The gas would make both heroes paranoid and open to suggestion. So Lex could say/whisper to Batman "See....the one who caused all that death and destruction....make him pay for what he has done", and to Superman "Everything you did, everything you sacrificed, even killing Zod, and he can't see your heroics! He doesn't see everyone you saved, only everyone you didn't. Don't kill him quickly...make him suffer, as you have". Then Lex would leave, and our heroes would have a reason to have a fight (and not end it quickly).

4: At least have Superman meditate or do something mystic or something, so we can guess it's a dream sequence when he see's Jonathan Kent again. Rather than, what was it, walk up and sees his dad moving rocks?

Well, to be fair, Lois didn't have much of a choice.

As for the 'vision of Jonathan Kent' thing, I think we're supposed to come to our own conclusions what that actually was. I actually like that we don't get everything spoon-fed in the story. But why not write the changed scenes in prose? That would make for a nice ficlet.

Aww....not another "write in prose not screenplay format!" Ok, lemme give it a go....

2: Lois shivered from the wind chill and the fear. There was no telling exactly what Lex would do, but he had had her kidnapped at gunpoint, and she knew the psychotic billionaire would not have had her taken to this helipad without a reason. She tried not to think about the drop and the lack of handrails or safety barriers (or the last time she'd been on a helipad, where the helicopter had spun out of control*) and focus on the Lex's mad ravings.

"....a pretty little road called Lois Lane" Lex finished as he stepped towards Lois's back. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end! She could see in her mind's eye Lex grabbing her and pushing her off into the abyss! Well, she was damned if she was going to let THAT happen without a fight! She whirled round and put up her hands in a fighting stance. "Touch me and I'll break your arm!"

"Oh, I don't doubt that." Lex replied lightheartedly, putting up his hands in front of his chest, with a jaunty smile that did nothing to reassure her and everything to unnerve and creep her out more. He then hummed happily as he sauntered 5-10 feet away from Lois, and....sat down on the metal of the helipad? Lois, confused, wondered just what was his game? And what was with all the happiness and nonchalance? She had no inkling of what was going to happen.

"Hold". Metal and fabric restraints come out of the helipad floor and tightly secured Lex. Lois, surprised, barely had time to look shocked and confused, before she registered the worryingly gleeful look on Lex's face.

"Tilt!"

Far too late, Lois realises what is about to happen. There is barely enough time for her to gasp in horror, before the whole helipad suddenly tilts 45 degrees! She cries out and frantically tries to grab something, anything, as she slides out of control, her fingers unable to find purchase on the helipad surface! At the last possible second, she manages to grasp both hands of the grill/mesh that was on the edge of the helipad. She manages to stop her slide with a jerk. "AHHH!" However, her hands are on fire - she's losing her grip! Desperately, she pleads with Lex. "No, please....I can't hold on!"

With a nightmare-inducing look that chills her to the bone, Lex, grinning evilly, flippantly and jauntily responds "I know!".
And with that, Lois loses her grip and screams as she falls into the night-time abyss.

(*Ref: Superman movie 1978 - oh wait, Lois fell off a helipad then as well! :/)

3: "WHY ARE THEY FIGHTING?!"

"WHERE IS SHE?!" roared Kal-El, his eyes blazing, his heat vision ready to go. "I don't know!" Lex mockingly pretend-pleaded. "I wouldn't let them tell me!". He then switched back to a threatening tone. "If you kill me, Martha dies. And if you fly away, Martha also dies. But if you kill the Bat...Martha lives." Lex gloats and Superman's eyes stop glowing red, and he calms down, closes his eyes and looks defeated. "There we go. There we go." Lex sneers "And now God, bends to my will."

However, Superman responds confidently "So I can't kill you and I can't flee?" Superman looks right back into Lex's eyes. "Then you leave me no choice." With a flash, both he and Lex are gone, to the consternation of Lex's guards. They call HQ, who inform them that Lex is still alive "His heart is still beating, anyway".

Batman looks up at the sky, with a face of grim determination. He is wearing his armoured auxiliary suit, and has prepared all his traps for his duel with Superman. He soon sees Superman. But....he seems to be carrying someone? "Batman!" yells out Superman. "We need to talk! And Lex has something he needs to tell you!" He slows down, certain that Batman would have secreted some lead-lined traps for him. Which he'd probably survive, but Lex wouldn't.

Frantically, Batman deactivates his traps. "Disarm traps! Codewords: Constitution, Excelsior*, Ambassador!". With that, Superman drops down with Lex to face Batman. Letting Lex stand on his own, in-between Superman and Batman, Focusing on the important info first, Superman says "Lex has kidnapped my mother to try and force me to kill you!"

Digesting this information, Batman angrily turns to Lex. "Is this true?!" He quickly realises from Lex's reaction that it is. "What do you have to say for yourself, Lex?!"

Apparently thinking and avoiding eye contact with the 2 heroes (with his eyes looking up and to the right), Lex responds calmly, crossing his arms "Well, I'm would like to say..." (He presses a hidden button in the arm of his clothes).

P-POOF!! There are 2 explosions of green gas clouds! One from Lex's clothes, and one from inside Batman's auxiliary suit! Both heroes take in a lungful and collapse on their knees, choking.

"....I don't think I could have planned this any better!"

Satisfied both heroes are temporarily incapacitated, Lex safely monologues. "I mean, I knew this MIGHT happen, so I took the antidote, after having secreted a bottle of gas in Batman's Auxiliary suit and in my clothes." Turning to Superman, Lex continues "The latter lead-fabric lined so you couldn't see it. I had hoped you'd be stupid enough to just fight each other anyway instead of talking, but I guess old Supes had more brain power than I thought!"
Walking around, Lex continues as the two heroes collapse to the ground and struggle and groan. "In case you're wondering, the gas is my own special brew, modified with extracts from Joker Juice and Scarecrow's Fear Toxin" He turns to Superman and grabs his jaw "and blended with Kryptonite just for you!". Letting go and giving him a light slap on the side of Superman's face, Lex continues pacing "It causes fear, paranoia and violence. And in case you're wondering why I'm telling you this, it also causes amnesia, juuuust before it causes high levels of suggestibility. You won't remember anything, except what I'm about to tell you!"

Both heroes have managed to get to their knees. Lex moves to Batman and, pointing at Superman, quietly whispers/talks to him "See!....the one who caused all that death and destruction....make him pay for what he has done! Slowly....". Batman bows his head and roars in anger at the pain from the gas and from his memories of that day.
Having programmed Batman, Lex saunters over to Superman to complete his work. Grasping Superman in a headlock/holding his head with both hands, directing Superman's gaze at Batman, "Everything you did, everything you sacrificed, even having to force yourself to kill Zod, and he can't see your heroism! Or pain! He doesn't see everyone you saved, only everyone you didn't. Don't kill him quickly...make him suffer, as you have!". Face contorted in agony and rage, Superman roars and his eyes blaze red.

Smiling with satisfaction, Lex hurries to flee the area with his previously arranged and hidden transport. Much as he's like to stay and view the spectacle of the two heroes trying to kill each other, he has much to do with the Kryptonian ship and the body of Zod.

*I would have just picked Excelsior, but Stan Lee is Marvel Universe.

Maybe: Lois could have got the antidote (somehow?) and administered it to both heroes (not sure if it would work on Superman? Maybe?) whilst yelling "Martha" at them (since apparently no one had noticed before that they both have a mum with the same first name).
