They've just announced that the new Batman episodic game series from Telltale Games, the creators of The Walking Dead game, Back to the Furture: The Video Game, Fables: The Wolf Among Us, the episode Game of Thrones game, and Tales of The Borderland, will be coming out August 2.

My only experience with Telltale so far is the first episode of The Wolf Among Us, but I really enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing how their gameplay style works with a Batman story.

That looks like the good ol' Telltale engine that really could use a bit of an upgrade. Hopefully the game plays relatively stable. To be honest though I think I'm a bit Batman'd out and I don't even read the comics.

I'm sorry but Telltale have really disappointed me with their last "games". It's not games anymore, they are some sort of interactive story, extremely simplified as well. I'm sorry that they are selling because it means they continue to do these non game. I predict this will be exactly like the GoT game, a good story, some quicktime events and story choices that in the end hardly will matter.

I've only really played The Walking Dead and only Season 1 but I got actually unnerved when Clementine would be in danger. I get the not really a game bit but when it works it really works.

I see Telltale games as being akin to those old "choose your own adventure" games from back in the day. The quality isn't in the format, it's in the writing and by extension the immersion.

my biggest gripe with that engine is the lack of optimization, it runs atrociously on powerful hardware given its relative fidelity

I only ever played the first episode of The Wolf Among Us, but I really liked it. They're almost more interactive movies than traditional video games, but I don't mind it since, at least in TFAU, it had a good story. I think it's great that video games have progressed to the point that something like this can actually work.
My not continuing was simply due to getting distracted by other things, and not a lack of interest.
I'm really looking forward to Batman.
What I really want from them though, is a Star Trek game. I their style would work really for a story driven Trek game.

I've been saying this forever. Well, It applied more to their original adventure style rather than the interactive stories they now make. Basically, I've felt that their episodic format would have beautifully lent itself to 25th Anniversary style episodes without really sacrificing anything. 25th-A is basically a story arc connected by episodes where the bulk of the gameplay happens.
