Batman Exposed

Joe Washington

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
What if Bruce Wayne stood in front of the media and told the public that he was Batman like how Stark exposed himself as the Iron Man at the end of the Iron Man movie?

I think a Kingdom Come scenario would present its self where his rouges gallery would put Bruce through a gauntlet and trash the mansion. I don't think Bruce could afford to expose himself like Tony did. Tony doesn't really have a rouges gallery as sadistic and brutal as Bruce Wayne does...in Kingdom Come Bane and Two-Face discover who he is and went on a rampage I think that in the novelization Bruce mutters to Clark that "its better this way anyway".

Alfred would be dead with in the first 48 hours, but stock in wayne enterprises would skyrocket.

But Bane already knew who Batman was. Didn't he?

Bane did yes Harvey didn't...that was something that always bothered me at the time Kingdom Come came out. Ra's and Taila also know. They've all chosen not to divulge Bruce's identity to the other members of his rouges gallery.

If Bruce did this, he would spend the rest of his life protecting everyone he cares about from the next attempt on their lives.

he'd be arrested for vigilantism, reckless endangerment, trespass, driving without due care and attention, dangerous driving, speeding, illegal parking, assault, GBH, ABH, flying without filing a flight-plan, and Thor knows what else criminal charges resulting from his actions.

^You forgot child endangerment.

I'm pretty sure with the kind of money Bruce Wayne must have, his lawyers could probably clear all those charges.

He'd be dead in a week. No one can stay alert 24/7 for days on end and Batman makes the kind of enemies that would just keep coming...

Bruce would have no choice but to start to use his money and equipment responsibly and smartly instead of hoarding it all for himself: Hire more cops on Wayne Money (and make sure they aren't corrupt), give them his bat-tech and use more Wayne money to fix up the city and fight corruption instead of just beating up thugs in a costume. With dozens of cops all armed with Bat-tech the criminal element of Gotham would be more on the run especially since the Cops won't have qualms against killing people on duty if it has to come to that.

^ As I pointed out a Kingdom Come scenario would probably occur where Bruce would have to either transform Gotham into a dictatorship protectorate ruled by him and armed with his advanced Bat-technology. In Kingdom Come he had approval over elections (actually I don't think there were elections, Bruce just took it upon himself to appoint people he thought were right for the job). A task force set up to take out the rouges once and for all, maybe a compromise of his ethics and morals to protect those he cares about. I'm pretty sure though at the beginning of this it wouldn't be pretty.

^ I read Kingdom Come the graphic novel (even the gorgeous Absolute Kingdom Come)- where are you getting all these details? Is there a more detailed version? A novelization?

All I remember is a couple of lines stating that Batman took care of his city (while the rest fell to pieces) and pictures of weird Bat-robots.

^ In the Elliot S. Maggins novelization of Kingdom Come there's a whole chapter that expands the scenes in Gotham City with Bruce touching on events and how Bruce conducts his life now. The weird Bat-robots are called Bat-Knights and I believe that they've essentially replaced the ineffective Gotham City Police Department.

The KC scenario worked a bit better due to the new generation of anti-heroes having killed off the majority of the worlds' supervillains.

With all his rogues still active, and Batman exposed (hopefully equipping the GCPD with his gear) the city would become a full-scale urban warzone between the Arkham crew and the Super-GCPD.
