Batman & Dracula: Red Rain (Spoilers)

EJA

Fleet Captain
Has anyone here ever read this story, along with its two sequels, Bloodstorm and Crimson Mist? These are probably some of my favourite Batman books of all time, as well as my favourite Elseworlds. I just love how creepy and shocking the whole thing is, with the Dark Knight battling an insane, monstrous Count Dracula in a shadowy and surreal Gotham. The ending of Red Rain, where Batman defeats Dracula only to become a vampire himself, really threw me when I first read it, and then came the sequels, with Batman fighting not only external enemies but also his own growing evil cravings. What do the rest of you think?

Yeah the Red Rain trilogy is among my favorite Elseworld's tales...never find them in stores though. I think Red Rain was re-issued in hardback recently.

All three books were collected together in the Batman - Vampire paperback fairly recently.

REad the first one years ago, didn't know about the other two.

I think Gotham By Gaslight remains my favorite Elseworlds excursion. IIRC it was also the first, even before the Elseworlds trademark had been coined.

Never had much love for these, but I think I only read the second and third books, not the original.

It's funny; Doug Moench's Prey story arc from Legends of the Dark Knight (one of the earliest stories on that title) is one of my favourite Batman stories, and I like some of the 80s Batman stuff he wrote too. But when he works with Kelly Jones, he seems to change his writing style in a way I find pretty annoying.

He says that when he works with Jones, it gives him the chance to write the stories he always wanted to, so I guess I'm not looking for the same thing as him.
