So there I am in FOPP, about to go and buy Destiny of the Daleks for £5...when I spot the Sontaran box set Bred for War on the shelf above, cost...

£8! :techman:

Anyway I know the 2 Doctors is a bit shite, and the invasion of Time somewhat dissapointing, but Invasion is still entertaining, The Time Warrior is extremely good and I don't think I've ever seen the Sontaran experiement (or if I have I was a small child at the time).

I love FOPP!!

There are still FOPPs?

I've heard of them - there used to be one in Stirling - but thought they all went out of business circa 1995...

^^^Wait a minute i think i know what this shop was, it just sold DVD and music, i think i remember it just down a few shop fronts from gamestation in Union street.......Oh well there you are, cant say i was ever in it though.......And to think i worked in Glasgow Central station from 1996 till 2001 as well which is right behind were Fopp was...

I don't really go into the town much now anyway, a crap bus service and Glasgow council hatred for the motorist has seen me sticking to the much better and motorist friendly East Kilbride for many years now.:)

Nope they were running till a couple of years ago, like I say HMV bought the few succesful shops. This means in Nottingham now there are 3 HMVs and one Fopp, which is owned by HMV! Pretty much the only other place you can buy DVDs from is Tesco!

We had not one but two Fopps in Cardiff. It was far and away the best DVD/CD shop ever. Then after barely 6 months of living there, they went into administration and vanished. I got the entire Depeche Mode discography and Doctor Who series 1 from there for barely £40 combined. I think we wore black the day it died.

BIGGER BARGAIN!

I went by today - I'd completely forgot about this thread and went in to see how much their nuBSG was. The answer... ridiculously overpriced.

Though I saw a crapload of classis Who DVD's for £3. I thought I'd get one or two, then noticed the Bred for War box set was also £3.

I came home with that, the Runaway Bride (trying to hook in my GF) and Black Books series 1 for £12. Awesome, awesome day.

What is Bred for War?

Though I haven't actually seen it (It's not in Region 1), it's a box set of all the Sontaran stories from the classic series. I don't think the Tennant or SJA Sontaran stories are included.

you're right, it's all classics - which is great as I haven't seen anything classic in Glasgow up until now that was £15-£28.

It contains...
- The Time Warrior (Jon Pertwee)
- The Sontarran Experiment (Tom Baker)
- The Invasion of Time (Tom Baker)
- The Two Doctors (Colin Baker & Patrick Troughton)

I haven't seen the Sontarran Experiment (well, I don't remember it anyway) and not a Pertwee fan - but if the Fopp in Glasgow has £3 a disc, and £3 for the box set... I may as well get the whole lot!

I just checked and it's going for £15.99 on Play (or £8.99 on their new and used trade thing - which I've never used myself).

Smug mode engaged.

Well mine's still a bargain...just less of a bargain

Even if you're not a Pertwee fan, The Time Warrior is very good. Sarah Jane's first adventure, Linx is a great villain...and it has Dot Cotten in it!
