Barbary Coast

Just found out this was coming out on DVD today and ordered a copy. I've always been curious about the short-lived western Shatner starred in early 1970s but never had the chance to watch any. Has anyone seen it? Any good? I'll be watching it regardless but I'm pretty curious what others think of it. Sounds like a fun show.

I'll have to look into this. When it was originally on, it was shown at 10 pm. Since that was my bedtime, my grandparents refused to let me stay up to watch it.

It's over $50 on Amazon.ca!

I've put it on my wish list for when they have a sale.

If you can ever get Shatner to say anything at a convention to you, he likes this topic. I get the feeling he wanted this show to run longer. Indeed in the 70s Shatner does several roles that involve disguises, I think it appealed to him as an actor to have multiple parts.

Here is a few shots from a Barnaby Jones of the same time period, in just a few minutes he's a bearded yacht owner, a cowboy, a befuddled fisherman and the creepy murderer.

Barbary Coast is just like this but in the West. Shatner has such a reputation for being serious, its important to remember his whole career is him choosing roles that are fun to him.
