Back to the Future Part II

I looked and didn't see these posted before, so:

http://www.11points.com/Movies/11_Predictions_That_Back_to_the_Future_Part_II_Got_Right

Pretty neat, especially the 11 things the movie got right. :techman:

Yeah, but how many of those things were actually predicted by BTTF2, and how many were just copied from other movies set in the future? 2001 had video conferencing, Blade Runner had video billboards, and there's a case to be made that Brazil predicted the "plastic surgery explosion".

The worst part about 2015 is that they had Michael J Fox play his son AND daughter. What's "worst" about this is that they ONLY did it to show off their fancy new camera that they invented to do it.

A George-Lucas-styled "solution to a question no one asked" if I ever saw one.

They should have had the girl who played Jennifer play the daughter. That'd be ridiculous, but it'd be a BTTF kind of ridiculous that would fit. Not the weirdo "cross-dressing ridiculous" that we ended up with.

But you gotta admit, Fox was one..er...foxy lil' lady!:guffaw:

I think all 3 segments are necessary to the trilogy. Part I is the funniest. Part II is the most action packed. Part III has the most heart & character development. Objectively, I suppose Part I is the best.

Personally, I think I prefer Part II over the others. It has such a different pacing. It starts out as a sprint and never really lets up. But then, I suppose some of that is because Part II takes place during the shortest period of time. Parts I & III both take place over the course of about a week. Part II takes only a couple of days.

Plus, the movie's version of 2015 looks a heckuva lot more fun than what we'll probably get. The hoverboard chase is my favorite set piece in the entire series. The ending is one of the greatest cliffhangers in movie history. The FX are nearly seamless. And the only thing cooler than a time traveling Delorean is a flying time traveling Delorean!

Part II definitely doesn't measure up well to the first movie, but compared to the shitty genre movies made today, it looks like a veritable masterpiece.

It may not be the best story they could have told for the sequel, but at least it was told well, with plenty of charm, kickass action, and great dialogue.
