Back to reading ST novels after short break. Here's my praise and q's

Last 6 months or so I've been busy so not had much time to read ST novels. Playing catch up. Currently reading Kobayashi Maru having read the previous two books and finding them more enjoyable than a lot of Ent episodes. Really enjoying this.

Also have a question - where's the next DS9 relaunch omnibus surely they can't just leave it half way thorugh mission gamma?!

Next on my list is Vanguard Precipice. That is unless by the end of KM I can't wait and have to read The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing first!!!

Marco proceeded on that omnibus, "These Haunted Seas", before the numbers came in on the previous DS9 omnibus, "Twist of Faith". Sadly, both of them underperformed; not enough shops ordered copies for their shelves (and probably a lot of people bought them not realising they contained only reprinted material). The first MG novel in MMPB, though, was the "rare" one. It had a lot of pages, very tiny font and was probably underpriced. Many more copies of the following three M:G MMPBs were made following the critical success of "Twilight".

It's always possible another DS9 omnibus will eventually been greenlit, but I've often seen copies of the last two MMPBs in the M:G saga at retail, even recently!

I waited so long to read Open Secrets that I ended up deciding to save it until I could read it and Precipice together. Much easier to follow an ongoing story if you read more than one at a time. Go for The Romulan War.

When I read the DS9 relaunch I remember Mission Gamma book 1 being really expensive (in excess of 30 or 40 pounds on amazon for even a used one if i recall correctly), and being thrilled when someone who obviously didn't know how rare they were stuck it on ebay for a fiver, so I snapped it up. Unfortunately my dog stuck a bite mark through the front cover when it arrived in the post so it's a slightly damaged used copy now! Doh!

Anyway, the reason for my post is that I just had a look on ebay and amazon and there are loads of used copies for under a fiver now. Anybody know why it's dropped in price?

I can only speculate, but perhaps a number of people bought the omnibus and no longer needed their copies of the original, so it became more common on the used-book market and the price dropped accordingly.

It dropped at the same time the omnibus came out - but then people started complaining that the prices of Books 3 and 4 suddenly jumped, as their increasing demand was anticipated.

The more I read this book the more I think Romulan War will be next.
