Back in Black: Christopher Pike (JJ-Verse)

OK...this is the first WIP of my newest drawing--"Back in Black."

(Alert the media! I drew a human! )

I'm not exactly sure whether my version of Admiral Pike will ever get to a point where he doesn't use this cane, or not...but he's definitely decided that as long as he DOES have one, he's going to go about it with style. (Oh, and once I do the coloring work, the pattern will become more subtle, I promise.)

I definitely need some help getting a better reference for this uniform. Right now, all I can find are shots from above the waist and I can't tell what's going on with the rest of the uniform. If anyone has a full-body shot to show where the jacket is supposed to fall, how the sleeves look all the way down, and how the pants are tailored, I would VERY much appreciate it. Mistakes will be a LOT easier to fix at this stage than later!

Oh, and I know very well that rank insigniae were not worn on this uniform at the captain level. But as an admiral--I thought that might be different.

Like I said, the pattern is gonna get way, WAAAAAY more subtle when I actually do the coloring. But I figured that as he recovers, there'll be a time where he'll actually use one for support.

Though ya know, though...IF he got into enough of a "funny" mode, I could see him showing up at a costume ball completely decked out.

He was tough as nails--but the way I read Abrams-Pike, there's also a sense of humor there, too.

That is actually a VERY good likeness of Bruce Greenwood. I like the artwork, but I'll admit, I've never been a fan of all gray or all black uniforms. I prefer lots of color. But again, great artwork!
