Baby born in car caught by firefighter on the way out

I received an e-mail from my sister ( who lives in Brandon) today about this story.
with a note asking guess who the 'catcher' was.

THE parents of a baby born in a car on the coldest night of the year are searching for the firefighter who delivered her.
Corinna Ens, 31, and her husband, Peter, want to thank the mystery man who caught their daughter, Ava Skye, as he opened the door while they were pulled over just off Kenaston Boulevard early Jan. 13.
"I just want to know (his) name," Corinna said.
Contractions woke Corinna just after midnight.
She could tell right away this was different from her previous pregnancy.
"It felt like someone was stabbing me in the back," she said.
Corinna and her husband bundled their 21-month-old son into their car and sped away from their home on Charleswood Road. Three minutes down Wilkes Avenue, Corinna's water broke.

It gets better.
It turns out that my Brother In-Laws sister contacted the paper to let them know who the mystery firefighter was
and the reporter, a phogragher and the family came by the fire hall
with a basket of fruit. He got to meet the family hold the baby etc.

then he finds out his sister's friend knows the couple, small world.

I know someone who gave birth in a minivan on the side of the freeway. She happened to be a labor & delivery nurse though so she knew what she was doing.

It took me a few moments to properly associate pronouns here. At first I thought you were saying the mother's husband caught the baby and was feigning ignorance for some reason. Just FYI.
