Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Thanks to my wonderful new DVD-ROM Avengers collection I've just read this, an epic 16 part (!) series that was the climax of Kurt Buseik's run on The Avengers in 2002. It's unfortunate the art is mostly crap because it is a huge sprawling epic storyline. Kang the Conqueror, who I don't recall well but remember enjoying, basically succeeds in taking over the world. And he destroys Washington D.C.! Levels it to the ground! Then he rules the world for a few issues before they take it back.

Anyway I was wondering if this amazingly huge story was referenced in other books. Because, y'know, Kang took over the world for a few months and blew up Washington D.C. So if they didn't, that'd be kinda annoying. The story indirectly mentions Spidey and the X-Men off-screen like once and aside from that has almost every single Avenger alive included.

No, it's not brought up (given the scope of the changes, you can see why).

"Kang Dynasty" was probably Busiek's best work overall on the title (his dialogue had gotten incrementally better; one of the best issues is the silent issue, where he doesn't burden the reader with obvious narration and character spouting 70s dialogue); I especially loved the ending pages with Kang.

Seems like the perfect premise for a company-wide crossover. I thought they liked doing that sort of thing ;)

No not the Cross Time Kangs please dear lord noooooooo. I did in fact enjoy this series as it was so out of the ordinary for the Avengers. A huge sprawling story. A good fun read. Not easy to find then and even harder now.
