Well the first season of Doctor Who has come to an end. Hopefully the BBC won't cancel this thing after only one season. :scream:

To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to have an avatar contest based on our favorite moments from the first season-- Anything from the TARDIS sitting in the Foreman junkyard to the Doctor (Did we ever learn his name?) in revolutionary France is fair game.

Voting will begin late Thursday night, as soon as I get back from that new Bond film, "Goldfinger". :D

I'm going to be lazy and go with one I made a while back - it's never been entered in a previous contest, though:

Yeah what a great show, but that Hartnell guy isn't getting any younger so I suppose it'll only last until he retires. Shame really...

Cool av contest, already working on mine :bolian:

There must be a way to replace him.....hang on - The Doctor's an alien, right? Something....alien could happen that....oh, I dunno. Needs some thought.

Maybe he could uh... sorta...
Like, turn into a dog or something? Like, a dog that talks?

Nononono!

A robotic dog that talks!

Fantastic!

Not sure why I assumed this would be Season 1 of RTD's series! S1 of classic Who....wellll, that's a weeee bit before my time, but I'll give it a go! :)

Argh, Demonland, how did you get colour TV? I thought this was still in the experimental phase. If you ask me, I think it's unnecessary. Colour tv will be downfall of television, I tell ya.
Back on topic: Yeah, great show. But it's a kids show, so that makes us rather pathetic, doesn't it? :p Anyway, I missed Marco Polo and The Reign Of Terror. I guess, I have to wait until they invent something that will enable us to watch all our favourite shows at home whenever we want. I mean, they're not going to tape over the episodes I missed, right?

Here's my entry this week:

Niiiiice!!! That is so weird. I was working on the exact same shot for a while today, but never could get what I was looking for....

I've got to start remembering to check the thread in the interim. :techman:

Anyway, here's my somewhat entry:

Awesome pic!

Unfortunately... that doesn't really fit into the theme. Avatars really must be a tribute to Season 1, not to the Hartnell-era in general.

Sorry. :(

Note to all--
The best way to determine if your avatar idea fits the contest's theme is to look at from the perspective of the original post. That guy who just finished watching the final episode of "Reign of Terror" must be able to understand the pic. He couldn't imagine another actor playing the Doctor, has no clue what a Timelord is, and would laugh at the thought of the show having a 45+ year legacy.

I took (well not me, some other dude) the film and colourised it manually.

Is this too sophisticated for the 60s? If so, how are we posting this on this thing they will call the internet? Must have used the TARDIS to go to the future. :)

This "Internet" is a great and magical invention, and it's all running on tubes or something. I even found pictures from the Marco Polo episodes I missed. So here's my first entry for any avatar contest:

Classic! Thank God there was no Internet back in those days. People would have had a field day with that "ship".
