Sad news that yesterday, the organisers decided that Auto Assembly, Britains largest Transformers convention, is to fold after 15 years. Reasons given are ill health and pressure of work.
Although I am no fan of Transformers, my son really is, and we started going in 2004 when he was only six. There were, about 300 fans there, and over the last decade and several venues, it's increased to around a thousand.
The organisers and fans have been fantastic company over the years and we've met some great voice actors, artists and authors. Everyone really has been awesome !
So, the 2015 convention is to be the last. My son, now 17, is gutted. My wife and I won't get our weekends in a good hotel any more, and, perhaps strangely for a non fan, I'll miss it.
Thanks for all the fun Guys. You've worked so hard building it over the years, it's a shame to see it go...
