Australians - getting much rain?

Here in Hobart we are having a very wet June - we have received more than double the average for June. Everyone's lawn is lovely and green. In the ;ast few years we have had much drier winters.

I heard on the news today that water restrictions have ben lifted in Sydney so it is seems that Tasmania isn't the only place that is getting a fair amount of rain.

A few weeks ago we got a massive downpour in Melbourne, but its been dry ever since. Usually the nights are cloudy but the sun has been shining and the nights are starry. I believe the rain belts have moved south as the oceans have warmed, with Tassi getting Victoria's rain now.

Start raining last night and continued today. We got a lot last month in SE QLD way above average

Having to wear 3 layers of clothes to be really comfortable. I used to live in Bathurst, up in the mountains. For the last couple weeks down here I've been wearing as much as I would up there in winter. We don't get frosts but the wind's been blowing from the Snowys. Even my Dad, up on the Qld border, said it's the coldest he's experienced there in 10 years.

Miss Chicken's method of determining what to wear if she is going out in winter.

Look out the window.

1) If you cannot see the mountain at all wear a coat, as it is likely to rain. Go outside to see how cold it is to detemine if you need to wear a jumper as well.
2) If you can see the mountain and there is no snow, or only snow on the very top, wear a jumper but not a coat. If it is raining outside wear your coat but no jumper.
3) If there is snow down to the bottom of the Organ Pipes (cliff formation on mountain) wear jumper and coat.
4) If there is snow down to about the 400 meters or below mark wear jumper, coat, gloves, scarf and wooly hat.

Looking out the window and seeing bright sunshine is no indication of how cold it is in Hobart. It can be really sunny but only 4C. It can be really overcast and be 12C.
