My house didn't really watch Home & Away.

There were acouple of Australian Productions I've seen/enjoyed on TV here in the UK aswell as the ones mentioned above, not that I'm a cloest Banana's in Pijama's fan, but it's because they have been BBC one off's or can't for the life of me remember what a show was called back in the day. :)

Australian TV rocks.

Anything in the sci fi genre? Other than Disney Channel imports like Ocean Girl....

Farscape was a joint Australian-American production, though since it was shot here the vast bulk of those who worked on the show (cast & crew) were Australians and I think it is generally considered to be an "Australian" show.

For kids, there was Escape from Jupiter, which I enjoyed (but didn't see all of) as a kid. It was about a bunch of kids who were evacuated from Io during a disaster on a ship that is sent back to Earth. It had a sequel, Return to Jupiter.

These are the only two Aussie sci-fis I've watched.

Other Aussie TV show I enjoyed growing up:

* Playschool
* Mr Squiggle
* Ship to Shore
* Round the Twist
* The Ferals
* Amazing
* Blinky Bill
* The Genie From Down Under
* Heartbreak High
* Fast Forward/Full Frontal
* Hey Dad!

There are others but I can't remember them right now.

Everyone here will be waaaaayyy too young to remember.

Now there's a show ripe for revival! Look at a couple of those faces - you'll have seen them on Aussie TV over the years. And for the record, I think this show has THE grooviest theme tune EVAR!!

Redmond Phillips was delicious as the crazed camp supervillain Zodian, with his twin sentient computers Alpha and Zeta.

We don't get this show in this country though.

I really like the Chaser.

The Chris Lilley show Angry Boys is a new show that will air in the UK & the US.

There is more to Aussie TV than Neighbours.

As a kid I enjoyed watching Round The Twist on CBBC and Neighbors was ok in the mid 90's.

I've got Round the Twist on DVD, and it's as good as I remembered!

It kinda falls away in the third and fourth seasons. Paul Jennings was no longer writing the scripts (or having his books used as the basis for them) and the cast was completely different, but it still has its moments.

Mother & Son is my all-time favourite Australian show, and I loved The Games during its brief run.

These days, the only Australian shows I watch are Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation, Before the Game, Rake and Good News Week.

I used to Watch Top Gear Australia on YouTube, now that was a cool novelty, for me. :)

I saw a newer Top Gear Australia on YouTube (My post last night was a catalyst for that.) last night.

Different cast to what I remember watching last time, I liked it, I saw the 70's Cars Lake Eyre Challenge, that was good. I'm not going to lie, I like Top Gear, so I don't prefer the Australian version to the one I know, but in that, I think Top Gear Australia is great, as I said before, it's quite the novelty, and it's a great show too. :)

Shame on you all for not mentioning Skippy The Bush Kangaroo. Sort of like Lassie. But bouncier.

Haha, quote, orignial and all, TY =), also, while I'm going slighty off topic, post #1 has a typo of cloest where closet, should be. :)

I haven't heard of The Grunen Transfer or The Chris Lilley show Angry Boys, but you said it'll be comming soon so, I guess I'd have to yet that yet again... Australian Televison's cool, I think, never been though.

Gruen Transfer, look at YouTube, Angry Boys is the follow up to Summer Heights High, and is a co-production between, ABC, BBC & HBO.

Magic Circle Club
Here's Humphrey
Owlie's School (one of the first, if not the first programme Channel 10 broadcast in 1964) Pretty sure it was an Aussie show, although I was 4 yo at the time :)
Romper Room
Fat Cat and Friends (DS1's favourite along with RR)
The Book Place

I want that theme song as my ring tone.

*Talks about the Ship to Shore intro I YouTubed.

I haven't heard of the show, but gosh, watch a theme song!

Everyone mentions Magic Circle Club but few mention Adventure Island.

Owlie's School was indeed an Aussie programme. My little sister nicknamed me Owlie because I read a lot and my first name sounded a bit like it.

Just remembered a couple of things.

One, there was a Aussie TV show called Riptide, that was a pretty cool show, starring Ty Hardin. Anyone remember it? Probably not (grumblegrumblewhippersnappers...)

The other was...

When I was a kid, one of my favourite shows was 'Whiplash'. It was in effect an Aussie western, starred Peter Graves, who didn't have a gun but a trusty bullwhip (this was 61 when it was made, folks). Lots of adventure, about an interesting time, when Cobb and Co were trying to establish their line across New South Wales (for Americans, think Wells Fargo). Years later, in the 70s, we went to live in a large town/ small city called Bathurst. Two nights ago I was researching old Aussie TV, and found that the first episode for that series was called 'Episode in Bathurst' and was written by... Gene Roddenberry. As were, iirc, three other eps.

So there y'go.
