Aussie fan films of the 80s

Thank you for the 'heads up' on this. I am adding your Aussie Fan works to my list of fan films not available on the web. I already had "Sale of the 23rd Century". If that situation should change, and your decide to have them transfered to DVD and uploaded to Vimeo or You Tube or another video hosting website, or just to your own website, please let me know, as I would want to link to them. vis: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/142.html

Thanks. I do have a few on hand, and a few excerpts of others, but the biggest problem is that I've fallen out of touch with some of the participants - and I know there are others who'd be absolutely horrified to think these "things" would be available to the entire world on the Internet. ;)

People do some rather brave stuff when they assume there's little likelihood of its longevity - and certainly none of us imagined the concept of Youtube way back in the 80s.

But I'll see what I can do.

Re your list, although I mentioned the infamous "City on the Edge of the Yarra" in my blog entry, this was an early fan film from science fiction fans living in Melbourne. Nothing to do with the Sydney group doing all of our game shows. Way before my time!

I can imagine Melbourne fans getting upset that it looks like we were claiming it as our own.

Therin:

I'm assuming these are on videotape? If so, and if you haven't already, get these things transferred to digital post-haste. Even if you choose not to release them, get them into a digital format. Tapes degausse and lose data over time, after all.

Oh, yeah, I realize that. Of course, some of the participants would be thrilled to hear that their contributions may one day disappear.

"Perfect Botch"
(1986): Chaperones, Therin and Tharrah of Andor, intend to ensure that Spock and T'Pring enjoy their blind date. (Note Therin's clipboard and phaser).

As you can see by the Andorians' windblown appearance, it was a miserable day for the beach. When we wrote the script, we set the action at Manly Beach - but the day we were supposed to go turned out to be a huge Surf Carnival, so we went to La Perouse instead, because it was close to the editing suite we were going to be using in the afternoon - and suddenly all the French and Greenpeace gags we'd inserted started to write themselves!

Of course, having someone wearing a Greenpeace T-shirt at Bare Island, La Perouse, only a few months after the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior, was a problem in itself. Not to mention the torrential downpour and chill winds.

By the way, if you've ever seen "Young Einstein" or "Mission: Impossible 2", you might already know the Bare Island facilities we used. We were there first!
