August Resolutions

RoJoHen

Yesterday afternoon I took my Personal Trainer certification exam, and I passed, so I went out and celebrated. With the celebration out of the way, I really need to start working harder on my diet and exercise. If I'm going to be a personal trainer and helping other people get in shape, I should probably try to be in excellent shape myself. So I've made a decision (and I really hope I can follow through):

No more drinking.

Maybe not forever, but for at least the next couple months, I am going to strive not to consume any alcohol.

Congratulations on the exam!

I tried something similar with chocolate, chips, and coke a few weeks back. I called it The Embargo. None of the above for a month, no exceptions. I think it really helped that I had a fixed date I could cling to.

As for a resolution for August ... less chocolate, chips, and coke, maybe?

I'm thinking Halloween might be a good date to strive for. My friends and I always have a big party on Halloween, and I can't see myself not drinking there. However, there are no big occasions between now and then, so I think I should be safe as long as I avoid going to the bar after work.

You people make the world a horrible place.

My August resolution will therefore be to drink more alcohol and eat more chocolate, cake and coke. It's a hard job maintaining the balance of the universe, but I'll apply myself with my customary fortitude.

Edit: ^ But! I have already realized the wickedness of my ways! You know, after I lost weight and basically gained the elegance of an elf.

Congratulations on passing your exam, RoJoHen! :bolian: I guess that means you're going to make us all do sit-ups. :rommie:

Never! Over my with chocolate crumbs covered body!

Three months, quite some time.
Best of luck! I'll drink a beer in your honor tonight. :D

I'm starting at the Royal Military Academy this august, so my resolution is to do my best there. Which means lots of excercise and no internet for a while... :vulcan:

^ No internet? How? Why? How?

You became a Pixie after quitting Pixy Stix?

It's more that I let my good judgement cross the styx and thereby my tummy acquired pixy-like dimensions.
Is it just me or have we send subtlety towards nirvana as well?

The first three weeks I'll be out "camping". Since you're not allowed to take your cellphone with you, I guess a laptop is out of the question too. I don't know what facilities they have at the academy, but I doubt I'll be able to be as much online as I have been.
Ah well, I'll have more to tell at the times that I do have internet access :).

Ouch.

Good luck with it. Look at it this way, that might be long enough to scrub your mind clean of MadBaggins posts.

You're almost as bad with the puns as I am. Why have I not duelled with you before?

Phew, good luck then. Just promise that, as soon as the brain begins to deliriously think that living without internet is actually better, you'll plug yourself in somewhere. Anywhere.

The fear of losing does funny things to us. But what do you mean, almost? This is "almost" as bad as you thinking that your thread "might" become interesting!

My August resolution is to hit 60 with dignity and class....and consume all the things you folks have given up and have a blast. :p:lol:

I can do it. A couple years ago I stopped drinking for a good length of time. I just have to find other things to do instead of drinking (or I always need to volunteer to be the Designated Driver).

Very good. I gave up all caffeine (with the exception of Excedrin) and sodas in May. It was a great idea!

My resolution for this month is to get to class and do well. And not to be too sad when other friends leave for various places.

Great news, RoJoHen. I am so pleased for you. I wish you all the strength and positivity that you will need to do this. I was quite concerned for you, particularly when you posted about the quantities of Jagermeister you consumed with your friends. Can't be good. :wtf: And I dread to think what monster hangover's you used to suffer.

Congratulations on passing your exam. :D

Today will be the real challenge. My friends and I are going to cook out, and they will be drinking a lot. Good thing my stomach is still upset from 2 nights ago! :p

After I run out of Orange Sherbet ice cream and Reese Whoppers, no more -- and I mean NO MORE sweets until mid September. At that point, with the three hours and 15 minutes of exercise I do each day (15 minutes of wieght lifting and three hours of stationary exercise bike peddling), I will have lost 15 pounds. Then comes my reward for a 8+ months of exercising and loosing -- at that point -- I will have lost 65 pounds. I will eat a bunch of Halloween candy, have something for Thanksgiving, eat a bunch of Christmas candy (plus, my birthday falls on Christmas anyway), then have something for New Years Day. This will result in gaining ten pounds, which I will then have nine months to exercise off and do again in 2010.

Good for you, Rojo! Best of luck with your resolution! (also for the others who were serious about it :))

I'll try to think of a resolution for August. Any suggestions? :)
