It's quite amazing how well the man was able to lie to his fans. He spins a whole tale in that clip about how he chose to be "executive consultant" because the strain of making Star Trek was just too much, and Paramount never pushed him aside...

This is hardly unusual in the entertainment business. Do you think all those 'creative differences', 'musical differences' 'mutual consent' explanations for various splits in casts or band line-ups are all true?
 
This was interesting to hear. It only goes to prove that politics and public relations play a very important role in the entertainment industry. But, everyone, IMO, knew that anyway.
