i have received this week the season 1 DVD set purchased from Amazon.com used.
it is not the orange jewel case box but a printed cardboard box with a label saying licensed by Paramount to be sold in Canada & USA only. The 5th disc special features are the same, the menus are the same. the episodes only have 3 channel audio. (Left, Right, Surround). The only other audio option is Japanese 3 channel audio.
i have a home theater setup at home with 5.1 channels.
What i would like to know is for those who actually have a 5.1 setup should i get a new set for the 5.1 channel sound mix? Is it that much better than the 2.0 mix?
i've heard the VOY episodes in the Borg fan collection and they are good in 5.1.
Is it that much of a noticeable difference with the 2004 DVD 5.1 surround mix vs the original stereo 2.0 mix for the 1995 broadcast? Does 5.1 sound really make a 15-year old series sound any better?
I just started buying VOY (used) and don't care if the boxes match. i'm only interested in the audio mix on season 1.
