Indeed...it's always SO weird when you find a screencap of "our" Dukat when he relaxes for just a second (and they ARE out there)--because it's almost like a glimpse of this other person who, in the canon universe, never came to be thanks to the canon Dukat's horrible choices.

VERY nice work you did.

Gul Dukat in "our" universe actually had quite a few moments where he was at ease/happy, it's just that most of the time, whenever he did smile, he made the mistake of doing it in front of Major Kira. But there were quite a few instances where we saw Dukat as "himself".

He'd get the right expression, and I'd get the feeling he was ALMOST what he could've been--but the problem was it was his sick obsession with Kira that was at work (or Kira's mom). As for Ziyal...there was a whole thread debating in the DS9 section whether or not his love for her was genuine or not.

(Whereas in THIS Dukat's case, there's no doubt.)

Well, as his author, I know his heart...and believe me--there's a world of difference between his feelings and those of the canon Dukat. This version is a LOT more "what you see is what you get."
