ATTN Hairy Guys: Come here a minute

Garm Bel Iblis

Commodore
So my chest and back are akin to Sasquatch and I'm finally going to thin the forest (or the Troll sweater as it's been called).

Shave?
Wax?
Nare for Men?

What are the best ways to go about this? I've shavaed before and it cost me about half a dozen razors and took forever. The waxing thing looks brutal, and the nare seems too easy to be true.

Thoughts? Examples? Horror Stories?

to pre-empt the metro sexual, you are weird posts, i have very long coarse chest hairs tha are constantly becoming infected and it's time to move 'em out. that being said..

Shaving is the cheapest, least painful and least effective.
Nair might not work well if the hair is really coarse.
Waxing would be the fastest and removes the hair all the way down to the follicle.

Have you considered laser treatment? It would be expensive but permanent.

Don't take it all off. Some chest hair is very, very sexy. Completely smooth men don't have that rugged je ne sais quoi. Just do your back.

If you decide to wax, make sure they trim the longest hairs first. Wax doesn't grab on well to really long hairs. In fact, if you go with the Nair, trim first so you don't have to use as much, leave it on as long as it doesn't burn, and be prepared to shave or pluck a little bit afterward anyway. (I offer this advice as a woman who has to use Nair for Men because the lady kind is too weak.)

Waxing is a bitch if you attempt it on your own, but if you get it professionally done it's not bad. Seriously, I don't have a high pain tolerance and I think waxing is the way to go.

Be careful with Nair, as you can have an allergic reaction or burn yourself with it. Even if you've used Nair a million times before, you can have an allergic reaction, so you have to test yourself each time before you use it.

;)

My husb is pretty fuzzy - we're both okay with it that way - I mean - who doesn't like a fuzzy man?

My recommendation for the chest is to just get a beard trimmer and thin it out. Going clean-shaven requires a lot of maintenance, and your skin is likely to break out and get super itchy. If you do decide to shave, get a beard trimmer anyway and cut it down as much as possible before actually taking a razor to it. Shave it in the shower and clean it thoroughly beforehand. You want to exfoliate everyday afterwards otherwise you are going to get a lot of ingrown hairs.

I'm luckily blessed with a comfortable combination of body hair: chest hair, a line down the stomach, no back hair. I've never shaved, but I do trim it sometimes where it's longer: armpit and, uhm, down below. Honestly, the clean-shaved look does nothing for me, and I think it's harder to pull off if you are not in great shape: a bit of fuzz can help sometimes.

Alright, I'm a native of the San Blas Islands (which are off the coast of Panama) and so I'm naturally pretty hairy. Let me just say... it doesn't go with my body type. I'm not a guy that looks good with a bunch of hair (except, I guess, I'm told facially.) So, I've gone round the bend with this issue. Razors burned and the stubble was every bit as bad as the full grown hair (on my chest and such). Waxing hurt too much for me to do it regularly and it wasn't always effective (random hairs would sprout in otherwise smooth areas and the pain in certain areas was more than I could bare.) Nair and other such creams stunk and didn't always work. They also left me with this sort of...weird type of stubble and it was messy. Hair removal via laser is out of the question as it costs too much and isn't 100% guaranteed for ever.

Well, I like pool parties and running with my shirt off so I had to find something. I mean the chest hair alone was more than I could handle with out embarrassment. So, finally, I was getting my hair done and I noticed a paste from Modern Organic Products. I'd tried everything else so I figured why not? It was $25 (though I assumed that was just because it was in a salon.)

Here are the results.

It worked perfectly. Modern Organic Products. The only problem is it isn't available everywhere. I've gone to a bunch of salons that didn't have it and I'm not sure MOP is all over the country but I know they have a website. I stocked up on this stuff because it's a simple, clean, and effective method that I only have to perform once every other week or so (and let me stress I am hairy in certain areas that I seriously don't want to be.)

So good luck! Hope that helps.

Try this http://www.amazon.com/MANGROOMER-Yourself-Electric-Back-Shaver/dp/B000HQ0L2E I was thinking of getting one.

Um...nice undies there. :wtf:

Seriously, though, I am intrigued by this product.

Er... thanks. I mean we all gotta wear somethin' right? MOP though. I know it's at salons (typically but not always) and that you can probably find it on their websites. Of all the crap I've gone through it is the best and so long as I don't have to I won't use anything else.

All i can find is shampoo, what is the paste called?

Mine literally says "Modern Organic Products" and then under it in bold letters it reads "depilatory paste." It's a flat, circular jar made of translucent brownish plastic and orange lettering on the label.
