Heck, I'm not even finished Origins yet. A game that huge and with so much to do would be much better served with a release every two years rather than every year.

Cool, I'd been expecting an Ancient Rome game eventually, but Greece is a lot more unique.
I still need to play Origins.

It would be cool to see gods in it.

I personally would've preferred an Origins followup with Aya in Rome during the Octavian/Antony civil war as I much prefer ancient Rome to ancient Greece, but sure, fine, whatever. I'm curious how they're going to handle the two protagonists. Will they be interchangeable like the Frye siblings, or is it an either/or, set in stone choice at the start of the game?

    So it's 50 years after 300 (431 BC), and you're basically playing as Gerald Butler/Lena Headey's grandchild.

    I. AM. SO. DOWN. With my shield, or on it!

It's the latter. That said, it won't affect gameplay or the ending. You can even romance the same various characters you'll meet, whichever gender you choose.

Yeah, the more I hear about it, the more I get excited. It sounds really great! I think the branching dialogue system is a logical evolution. Loving the little changes they're making. And wow, that kick!

I love the setting, though I do wonder how this will tie into the overarching Assassin/Templar conflict since I thought Origins was the start of that, and this is set four hundred years prior to that game. To be fair though, I'm only just now playing Origins so I don't actually know how they explain the start of the conflict yet, I'm just going off of an assumption.

I really like how Ubisoft has turned the series into a sort of RPG-lite, with the choice of playable characters and the branching dialogue, on top of the mechanics introduced in Origins.

I watched a gameplay demo with commentary on IGN and the dev team member showing it said that this one will focus more heavily on the First Civilization. He also said that this is basically a full on RPG, and that it's what they've been building to for the last several games.

I'm willing to bet the next one that follows will be set in Ancient Rome, and there have been rumours. It seems to be leading to a trilogy where Rome is involved in all three. From a historical perspective, that's pretty cool.

Considering they’ve used Roman gods’ names for Those Who Came Before (Minerva, Juno, etc.), I wouldn’t be surprised.

I'm actually interested in this, though I suck at stealth games. I have only played the first one so far though so I don't no if later entries required stealth so much?

Well, Origins had quite a bit of it, but due to the open-ended nature of the game, it didn't force it on you and allowed you to approach things in different ways. Still, Origin's stealth system was far better than any of the other ones that came before it. It just felt right. The poison I ended up using a lot. Works different than previous entries, in the sense that in previous entries, poison darts or bezerk darts would only affect a person at a time, where here if you have poison, you can poison bodies leaving clouds of poison for your enemies to wander into spreading contamination as they patrol around. It's a fun tool. In general, I find the stealth system is much better and easier to stay hidden as long as you don't do something stupid to reveal yourself. Unlike previous games, you can actually use the environment against them such as burning animal cages to unleash havoc on unsuspecting enemies and watch as it all unfolds.

Rome was still a very minor player at the time of Odyssey (during the Pelaponnesian War, ca. 431 BCE). They hadn't even conquered the Italian peninsula by then. Maybe whatever Roman involvement will focus more on the First Civilization and lead into Rome's rise to power, though that still wouldn't really happen for another couple of centuries.

But yeah, I fully expect the third game in this trilogy to take place in Rome. Origins was already set during Julius Caesar's time, but a lot of other very interesting things happened in the years following Caesar's death. Apparently Origins' early title was Assassin's Creed Empire; perhaps the third game, starring a Roman Assassin, will have that title instead.
