There was some beautiful buildings around during that time, many of which you can still see in Philly and lower Manhattan. They aren't all that tall though, I'll give you that. It will be interesting to see how the gameplay is adapted for this new environment.

I'd be willing to bet, seeing as the French Revolution was only a dozen years after American Independence, that the new Assassin will visit Revolutionary Paris (and maybe London) in whatever the next non-numbered game is, like how Ezio went to Turkey in Revelations...
I'd be surprised if this had a non-numbered spinoff. Sure, you could continue the assassin's story, but if III doesn't wrap up Desmond's story riots will ensue...

I read that they want to end Desmond's story by December 2012, because it would be stupid of them to do a game focusing on the whole "end of the world in 2012" thing and then have the story end after that date in real life.
So AC3 will end Desmond's story, but I don't doubt there will be more AC games in the future. They'll just focus on a new character and a new story, most likely.
