According to promotional art images snagged by a Best Buy employee, Ubisoft's next entry in the Assassin's Creed series will take place during the American Revolution. The image [via Kotaku] features an assassin in front of the original Continental flag.

The hero appears to be Native American, but it's unclear. According to the source, the supposed star of Assassin's Creed 3 carries a tomahawk in one of his his unseen hands.

Sounds interesting...

Sounds boring. I'd much rather be in a stunning European city. Did Revolutionary America have tall buildings and stone buildings?

Seems like it's too big a leap for the series. Ancient Egypt would be cool, even if it is traditionally a Tomb Raider thing

Revolutionary France would have been better.
I agree, however they could always have this guy go to Paris in a follow-up game like Ezio went to Constantinople in Revelations. French Revolution was only about a decade after the American Revolution, after all.

That's interesting because I read in Game Informer in an issue about a Russian guy in the saga someplace. American revolution could be interesting too if its true though. Liked the games so far and good story too

It's pretty much confirmed. Box art has been released. They have an article on it game trailers.

Not many, but the plot may take Connor (that's his name) to London or Paris.

There's to be a detailed PR on monday, but going by the screenshots on GameRant, it looks like it's intended to have Predator-style gameplay, with Connor blending in against snowy mountainsides, and leaping from tree to tree before pouncing from the high branches.

Apparently the new assassin is half English and half Native American, which you'd think would make him doubly against George Washington's revolutionary, and with the Founding Fathers being Masons (and according to popular legend therefore descended from Templars) you'd think surely the revolutionaries are the bad guys. But, cool though that would be, I doubt Ubi have the balls to go with that, and will find some way to cast the redcoats as Templars....

Lol you're probably right since the cover art has the main character in the process of removing a red coats head.

Sounds great. If they had gone for Revolutionary France, they wouldn't have been able to feature the Eiffel Tower anyway.

Here's another tidbit from Gamasutra:

Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin's Creed III, which brings its popular franchise to the American Revolutionary War, will release on October 31 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows, on October 31 -- a Wii U version is also under development.

(Emphasis mine).

Soooooo... it's mostly going to take place in a forest? Ugh. I did not enjoy Red Dead Redemption. And I hated the between city elements of AC1. They are seriously killing my AC3 anticipation here. America is boring :p

I read that it will also feature New York City and Boston. I doubt the entire game will take place in the wilderness.

Personally i liked RDD very much, even though i never was a big western fan...
And the new setting is more interesting for us non-Americans.
