Asperger's Syndrome - Personal Experiences

Yes, we all think about death, but at 7 or 8 years old it should not be a main focus.

Exactly. It's a preoccupation that sometimes interferes with his daily life. It's a matter of degree, I guess. I'm not sure I was even aware of death at age 8.

Thankfully he does not have any problems with his peers, he has friends and gets along well, but I fear he's got a rough road ahead of him. He's VERY sensitive, and cries at the least provocation, just look at him sideways.

Our son has some friends, but continues to be oblivious to their cues. He is so focused on whatever is in his head that he cannot see what others are doing, or that they are not interested in what he is talking about.

His big thing right now is Legos. He's consumed by them. He talks about them, worries about them, wonders what will happen if they're all gone when he's saved his money, etc. It's great that he has imaginative play and patience for building, but it's to the exclusion of other things, and other topics of conversation.

my best friend is diagnosed with Asperger's, he plays tabletop games, he's owned and played every 40k and Warmachine/Hordes army, but he doesn't keep them for very long, for $80 he sold me about 9/10's of the models for a faction, he had a functioning army (poorly) glued together and the rest of them were in scattered pieces, I'm still trying to get all the little bits matched up.

Other than that he's a master liar, though I've helped him break the habit, and has episodes of preachyness to the point of annoyance (and I've done what I can to help him break THAT, too)
