One of the interesting things brought up was that Tom Baker actually didn't like his costume in his final series. He essentially felt that at that point it had become more of a uniform and didn't allow for much variation--something that continued for the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Doctors (although the Seventh Doctor did change the color of his jacket in his final series to reflect the darker tone of his character).

I agree with some of the sentiments in that article that the Doctor shouldb't have a "costume" per se but an overall specific sense of style. (Best personified by the 3rd Doctor).

I actually liked "the costume era," although I can understand a sentiment that it may have made the Doctors involved walking gimmicks. I think I was one of the few who liked the question marks on the collar habit that started with the Fourth Doctor and ended with the Sixth.
