Ars Technica talks Time Travel and the DTI

Fans of Christopher Bennett's DTI novels (and Christopher himself, for that matter) might be interested in Ars Technica's article on how time travel works in Star Trek and what the Department of Temporal Investigations novels have to say about time travel -- Trek at 50: The quest for a unifying theory of time travel in Star Trek.

It's pretty thoughtful and tackles a number of problems with the various theories of time travel in the Trek universe.

^I'm not just interested in it, I was interviewed for it. The article's author, Xaq Rzetelny, corresponded with me by e-mail to make sure he understood my model of Trek time travel. There are a couple of quotes from that correspondence on page 3 of the article, starting next to the photo of me. And it looks like Xaq forwarded my comments to a couple of real physicists to get their thoughts on my model. Luckily, they seem to think it holds up.

Awesome. We need more of this kind of analysis of TrekLit concepts and events.

I'm honestly not sure what other concepts or events would cast a wide enough net that it'd qualify for an article like this where you'd have experts in some field being able to comment, I have to admit. Maybe political scientists discussing the ramifications of the Typhon Pact on the interstellar stage or something?

This article itself was really cool, though, yeah; it was great to see the reactions from physicists to the general model.
