And where did the energy come from to provide the matter for this new reality?

If the answer is 'Oh its quantum physics innnit', well how many times can new realities be created before the stuff becomes a little diluted?

Someone takes Star Trek a little seriously and to let you know I would never say the phrase "innnit" . Red Matter didn't create the Universe if it was a seperate one since multi verses are out there already the history for that Universe was changed thats all.

Well, to be more precise, the Red Matter creates the singularity via which you can travel or be destroyed if it forms inside your ship or planet.
