Army Ranks

I'm doing research for the next comic and need info on army ranks. Let's say I have three soldiers on a special patrol in Afghanistan in the present. If one of them is in charge. What would their ranks be? They are enlisted men. What would their ranks be? Corporal and two privates? Something higher? Thanks!

Depends. On the situation. And the country. And the branch.

In the US, Corporal isn't used as much in the Army as it is the Marines these days. But if it's meant to be something like a Marine assault weapons squad, then yes, it's usually a corporal and two privates. They could be lance corporals depending on experience.

EDIT: Oops.

As far as Army, you could do the same, but usually a squad is going to be a bit bigger with a sergeant or staff sergeant in charge. There may be a corporal who's an XO of sorts for the squad.

Ooo, thanks for the fast reply! Lets say its us military checking on a drone strike. Would that be regular army? If so, what would the ranks be?

I can't say for sure. But, to me, any drone strike implies a clandestine operation, in which case it's likely there'd be an officer involved. Or perhaps a master sergeant.
