Are you going to see "American Carol?"

I want to see it out of curioisty. I want to see if anyone other than "South Park" can not only make fun at liberals but even make legit critisms. Most republican humor tends to be really crappy. It hurts that that republicans don't understand liberals at all. To much propoganda colors their views and thus the jokes just flop. I doubt a movie that stars Chris Farley's brother will be that movie but I still want to see it anyways.

I think Mike Judge would do a better and more subtle way of lampooning the left.

No - not because it's a conservative film - but because it looks fucking lame.

I'm gleefully refusing to see American Carol for exactly the same reason I refused to see Meet the Spartans.

Zucker's first attempt at conservative humor was the "Madeline Albirght is fat!" sketch. This will be one giant "Michael Moore is fat!" sketch. I'd rather have sex or make a nice pasta dish or something.

I'm not sure about that because in the previews I didn't see any fat jokes. Granted I expect their will be at least one fat joke but I am hoping Zucker doesn't turn to that cliche of a joke to much. I do agree that MIke Judge also would be a good choice in doing a movie that makes fun of liberals.

Jason, maybe you should go back in time and rewrite that OP. How is someone supposed to respond to that mess?

Anyway, Michael Moore is ripe for parody, contrary to what people whose religion is politics think. However, movie parodies have been pretty much DOA since the mid-90s, going for the lowbrow broadest humor possible.

This movie probably has an actual plot, as opposed to those Disaster/Date Movie bottom-feeder flicks which just string together scenes from other movies and somehow that makes a movie. But David Zucker is way past his prime when it comes to these sort of movies, much like Mel Brooks before him.

I'm gonna see it, mainly because I don't really like Michael Moore's ambush tactics/editing style out of context style.

I tried watching a few of his films and I couldn't get past watchign a over 30 minutes of each, not because of the fatcs, I actually agree with some of them, just how they were presented.

I have no plans to see it but I know a lot of people who are planning to see it. My university is very conservative and they've arranged a party for the day when it comes out where students can sign up and ride the bus to go see it (the nearest theatre is 30 miles away).

no way will i see it, it's just a 90 minute slam on one guy, looks like a re-telling of a christmas carol where at the end, the Michael Moore allegory will pick up an AR and shoot at a cut-out of Obama dressed up as Bin Laden

^^Whereas you'll probably go see W, a 3 hour slam on one guy, right? :p

I'm interested to see it, and probably will wait for an early matinee or netflix.. Most of our movie going these days is centered around the kids...

nope, and i never saw Farenheit 9/11 either

Please, W will not be a three hour slam. Unless I'm grossly overestimating Oliver Stone here, it'll be a nuanced character portrait. Not a flattering one by any stretch. But hardly a shit-smearing slanderstorm.

"From the makers of Airplane!" is enough to get me to give this a try--though I agree that Zucker is probably past his prime.

That is actually laughable.

Stone can't do a "nuanced character study" of a conservative without making it a smear.

Hell, he can't do history to save his ass unless it's got a left-leaning or history-ignoring-conspiracy-theory base.

I hear World Trade Center was pretty straight up.

The guy's got an agenda, there's no hiding it. But I have read absolutely nothing about his new film to indicate his ultimate goal is the vilification of our current president.
