Some people are competitve in everything they do. Some people aren't at all. Some people only at things they are comfortable with. Where do you fall?

Me? Very. But not so much that I would compromise my values to come out on top.

I'm not in the least competitive. When I get the playful urge to compete it is very mild and lighthearted; when my best friend and I play Scrabble, we play for a cumulative score. This doesn't mean that I don't work hard or that I have no desire to earn, gain, or win -- I just don't care about beating other people.

Not really, no. I am not competitive against others but I do push myself very hard. Good example is school, I would have never accepted getting less than an A in class, but not because I wanted to beat others. I just wanted to do my best.

Not particularly, no. I generally find 'selling myself' embarrassing and awkward, and dislike the feeling that major competition gives me of stepping on other people. Sometimes, in life, being competitive is necessary. But I don't really enjoy doing it.

I voted somewhat. I am an Aries, so I can become fiercely competitive, but mostly that instinct is in hibernation and only manifests itself when I'm playing some sort of game, such as cards, air hockey, trivial pursuit, table tennis. I do think you need to be at least slightly invested in what you're doing to get maximum enjoyment out of it. It doesn't spoil my mood if I loose, I may just ask for a rematch though. :p

I only really deem pool and snooker to be important. I hate losing at pool. Just ask DarkHelmet :lol:

No, not really. I sometimes wish I were more competitive, but I'm just naturally very laid-back and easygoing. I mean, sure, I don't like to lose at anything, but I generally tend to avoid competitive situations anyway, so it doesn't usually matter.

I'm extremely competitive in just about everything I do (my friends often tease me about it). It always bugs me when people say they're only out to have fun: I want to have fun as well, but the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Nah, I'm not in the least bit competitive. Competition bores me. And I like to see other people succeed.

I'm the least competitive person on Earth; and I have the awards to prove it. :cool:

Not usually but a little, so somewhere between Somewhat and Not at all. But it depends on what the situation is.

I think that comparison with peers is a good way of measuring ability. Being able to do X and Y and not being able to do Z, am I good at that something or not? It can feel rather existential without having some standard set by one's peers.

And I tend to think that unless I'm in the top 5% then I'd rate my ability as average. If I want to improve at something then I would use peer percentiles as points of reference, and I can gauge my abilities by how hard I need to push myself to climb up through those percentiles, and ultimately to discover where my personal limit is, which improves self understanding.

Abilities <--> Comparison <--> Effort <--> Competition

Like An Officer, I only really find myself feeling competitive when it comes to things that don't really matter all that much, like playing cards and video games. But it's even worse when I'm playing with other, even more competitive people! :D
