Yeah, in Austria everybody is, except if you explicitely say you don't want it. And I'm ok with that, why just burn/bury a dead body when it could still be some use to other people?

It's different in Germany. No-one is, except you explicitly say you want to be a donor.

There aren't enough donors around. People die because they can't get an organ in time, so what the heck ... If I'm dead I won't need the organs anymore and other people will get a chance to live. Besides, that way something of me lives on. I am a donor and carry a card around in my wallet.

I firmly believe that we should adopt an opt-out system rather than requiring registration, and that those who decline should be barred from receiving organ transplants or blood transfusions (with the exception of those who cannot donate for medical reasons, of course).
