No. The Talosians had nothing but their illusions and fantasies. Most of the people on this board have spouses, children, careers, etc.

We have fantasy and reality.

No. Not yet. But one day we will be... You see, all this fantasy of space travel is well beyond our technical capabilities and practicality. Space is too vast and distance from other life forms too great. So, we're stuck out here on this rim of the Milky Way. All we've got is each other and our imaginations... and we're just beginning to scratch the surface on where we'll be going with that.

However, the fact that it was a moral concern in 1964 and is still a moral concern today probably means there's still hope.
