Are they on a five-year mission?

Can't recall if it's been mentioned anywhere the past two seasons, or if they're saving the five year-mission aspect of the story for when Kirk takes command.

Which is technically not canon, if you consider the second TOS pilot to be part of the official narrative. At the beginning, Kirk explains that the Enterprise's mission is part of a new strategy to explore the galaxy based on a five-year timeline.

I'm sure this is yet another issue that drives the canon purists crazy.
