Spoilers Are they going to re-cast Archer?

*WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!!!*

Based on the 28th century rumour, are they going to go with a storyline where a "version" of Archer was somehow transported into the 28th century during the Temporal Cold War and got stuck there? Will he be the "big recurring guest star" for Season 3?

If they actually revisit the Future Guy is Archer thing I'll lose my mind.

I mean doesn't it seem like a coincidence that they went with the 28th Century?

And they seem to like putting major characters from past series/canon in as major guest stars...

Have there been (m)any references to ENT on DISCO so far? If so, they've been whooshing over me head.

Literally the entire Mirror arc was one large Enterprise reference. To the point it would be incomprehensible if you didn't see the Enterprise Mirror episodes.

Cornwell also mentions the last official visit to the Klingon homeworld was by Jonathan Archer.

The arrow is not mine :)

I got that there was a Japanese surname in The Emperor's full title. Must have missed the rest.
Wonder if Scott Bakula would be up for it. Les Moonves left CBS, that might sweeten the deal. Scott always seemed to care a great deal for the fans.

Literally the entire talk of the Defiant, and Mirror Georgiou even knowing about the Federation, only makes sense if you saw the Enterprise Mirror episodes.

I'm not sure they'd want to get the same guy. I think Bakula is busy doing his NCIS show anyways.
I think fans would be upset if they recast Archer if the actor is still around. But Bakula is busy, so he'd have to be limited to sporadic appearances a la Cornwell perhaps.

It's not THAT much different than not casting Greenwood for Pike though.

I think they would want someone a little younger than Bakula, to be cast for a prime-aged Archer. Ideally someone with gravitas like Mount and Isaacs had.

He wouldn't have to be old, though. If the storyline is Archer getting stuck in the 28th century, he could be any age while he's there.

That's different though. The movie and tv businesses often operate in different worlds. It also opens the door to if they cast Greenwood as Pike, why not cast Quinto as Spock or Pine as Kirk? And those guys command different salaries. The whole movie franchise is held up due to a dispute regarding Pine's salary. Negotiations would be tougher.

No offense to Scott Bakula, but I think even he would modestly agree that he might be easier to get than someone in a movie series.

And Archer being old enough to become President till 80 is canon. Scott Bakula would be the right age, if anything he'd probably be too young to play Archer's age of at least 80.

Canon confirms Archer was around to be President until at least 80. Only after that is his bio blank.

Not saying it can't happen, but my bet is that if it does happen, it'll be the "prime-aged" version of Archer that appears. So they'll probably an actor in his late 30's/early 40's.

Wow, run a horrific Temporal Cold War and still go on to be elected President. And I thought our modern day politics was bad.

Gannet Brooks: Councilman Archer, what do you have to say about reports that you are in fact the infamous figure known as "Future Guy" behind the devastating Temporal Cold War?

Archer: It's, uh, fake news. (turns to Section 31 agent Malcolm Reed to ask reporter Brooks to be imprisoned)

My suspicion is that it'll be a version (or "ghost") of Archer that somehow got stuck in the 28th century during one of the frequent times he was transported to and from the future. Not the actual Archer that made it back and became President.
