Spoilers Are Tellarites still part of the Federation?

The Wormhole

Earlier in the season we learn Earth left the Federation, and just recently we learn Vulcan/Ni'Var has as well. And given the Andorians now seem to be bad guys allied with the Orions, they're likely not part of the Federation anymore either.

So, that's three of the four founding members of the Federation no longer a part of it. That just leaves the Tellarites? Have they left the Federation, or are they still a part of it, the sole remaining founding member? There isn't much to glean based on the Tellarites we've seen this season. We see a few with the Andorian-Orion gang in the premiere, but we also see one serving in the EDF later on.

Thoughts on this matter anyone?

I can see it both ways.

On the one hand, it would be nice to see that one of the founding members was still "keeping the faith" in the Federation, as it were.

On the other hand, it would be interesting to let some other worlds play the role as the "founding" 39(?) worlds of this regrowing Federation as they presumably start getting the band back together. Take the focus off of Earth and Vulcan and let some other worlds take charge like Bajor or Kelpia.

I'd be fine with either development, but would prefer the latter.

I think it is possible that Tellarites stayed whitin Federatin, especially because their traditional rivals - Andorians - apparently left it.

On the other hand I would like to know is Betazed still part of the Federation.

We have absolutely no idea what happened to the Tellarites as such.

Although there is a Tellarite serving in the Earth Defense Force (presumably having lived on Earth for most of his life) in "People of Earth". He's part of the EDF boarding party that beams aboard Discovery.

Where did you get this list?

Klingons are Federation members? Really? If this list is official, wouldn't that have been highly publicized by now?

Joke list, sorry. The joke is that we don't know, so I made a list as if I somehow knew.

The list is of course, cribbed carefully from the references in the last few episodes both in dialogue (Na'Seth, Kaminar, Barzan) and on the galactic maps (O'Ryan's Planet, Talos), which don't really specify whether these are members or not. Some of them (Andoria, Orion) aren't, and were purposefully excluded, and the Klingons, Cardassians, and Ferengi seem to have their own zones or territory, which imply non-membership.

A joke isn't good unless it has a level of plausibility to make you question its seriousness.

I think Tim is refering to a display in "Die Trying" which listed worlds seen and mentioned from the older shows, but as far as I can tell, it never mentioned these worlds being part of the Federation. Also, how can Talos and Zetar be members if the Talosians were dying out by the time of "The Cage", and the Zetars were extinct for centuries at the time of "The Lights of Zetar".

I wouldn't be against an episode of Discovery traveling to Talos IV to pay their respects at the Tomb of Christopher Pike.

Vance: Thanks, you've just given me justification to execute all of you. Lieutenant Willa, execute General Order 7!

Saru: By the Ba'ul, we were only visiting a friend's grave!

Well, the Talosians would be the Pike and Vina descendants (and, hopefully, some other colonists that moved in during the centuries), and the Zetarians were still around during The Lights of Zetar, they just ascended to a higher form (and then started killing people).

Truthfully, there must be some reason why barren Zetar or forbidden Talos are on Starfleet maps. Colony worlds or new planetary powers is a reasonable assumption, allowing for all sorts of interesting happenings in the 900 year interval.

Now, what's going on with the Founders' First Homeworld? Did Odo recolonize it in addition to having two more Homeworlds?

Odo purchased two more homeworlds while the intergalactic housing market was good and is renting out the first homeworld and second homeworld. The third homeworld is a little retirement present to himself.

Head Canon: The Founders' First Homeworld is a massive museum honoring the Changelings that fought valiantly in the Dominion War. There's a huge Gamma Pride movement with mottoes like "The Dominion Shall Rise Again" amongst Neo-Dominionites that annoys the rest of the Federation and Starfleet to no end.

Now I'm imagining Vorta hillbillies
