Are ST conventions worth going to?

I wonder if I should find a way to go to the main one in LV that they have in August? But don't some of you who go feel weird paying guys worth hundreds of millions of dollars like William Shatner $100 for an autograph or a picture? I mean it's a bit ridiculous. I'd love to meet him, but yeah. If he has time to go do stupid things like that American Pickers reality show nonsense then he should be able to not charge fans.
