Archives and Omnibus

Information on IDW's collections is somewhat scant. So far we've had three "Archives", which are normal TPBs containing four or five comics, with one more to come:

1. Best of Peter David
2. Best of the Borg
3. The Gary Seven Collection
4. Deep Space Nine

I haven't been able to find anything out about a fifth volume, so I'm assuming that's it. It's being superseded by a new Omnibus line, which will cram a whole lot more in there. Do IDW's omnibi have reduced dimensions like Dark Horse's? So far we know of a few of these, but do we have a publication order/dates?

- Marvel post-TMP series (17 issues)
- Early Voyages (17 issues)
- classic movies adaptations (~16 issues)

Any more of these been announced?

The Marvel release is due in April, the EV in May, and the movie adaptations one is said to be Winter 2009.

This is in the February Previews, so it's due in April.

- Early Voyages (17 issues)
I'm pretty sure this is in May.

- classic movies adaptations (~16 issues)
Probably fall, after the Star Trek II adaptation finishes.

I haven't heard about any beyond that.

^^ Did I read that right? A TWOK adaptation?! When I used to collect Trek comics I always wanted a TWOK adaptation as I believe every movie got one exceot TWOK( though I don't know about the last couple of TNG movies)

Yes, IDW is doing an adaptation of Star Trek II, to complete the set.

Marvel did a comics adaptation of First Contact, but there were no adaptations of Insurrection or Nemesis.

IDW omnibus dimensions are about 6" x 9", smaller than their standard trade paperback collection dimensions of about 6.75" x 10.75". Meaning more pages per book. Since there are many more pages in an omnibus, the paper may be lighter weight as well.

oops you already answered your own question
