Archie Comics & Kevin Keller

So, how do they portray him as being gay? Is he flaming like Jack from "Will and Grace" or is he more subtle in his gayness?

Definitely subtle. Like I said, if it weren't for the gayness he'd be just another add-on character. He's not a "flaming homo". He's just out and honest about it. In fact, the point of the very first story was that Veronica had her sights set on seducing him, something she'd likely not attempt if he were anything like Jack. Nobody knew until he told Jughead.

I guess that makes sense and sort-of follows with what Archie tries to do in their comics. Hell, the broadest stereotype they probably have is Moose as the block-headed jock.

I am currently reading the Archie Meets KISS crossover.
How does it compare to Archie vs The Punisher?
Well, it's only two issues in, and the first issue was great. At first, the idea of musical super-heroes, vamprires, zombies, ect; in the Archie universe seemed a little out of place until I realized that Sabrina The Teenage Witch is a Riverdale citizen as well, and she is indeed a central character in the story, right from the first page.

The second issue got a little silly, dressing KISS up in normal clothing so they'd fit in, but it's been a lot of fun so far. I would have to read the whole thing before comparing it to the classic Archie Meets The Punisher.

I'd also like to mention for those who dabble in the Archie lines that Kevin's marriage is celebrated in the next Archie: Married Life magazine/comic.

I read the issue. What I found more striking than the actual gay marriage was that the illustrators took the time to accurately depict our current Middle East conflicts. Where else in an Archie comic would you see a character ducking fire while a Predator attack drone streaks in to provide air support?

Only in Life With Archie: The Married Life.

While not on topic with the Archie storylines... For those of you interested in "alternative" comic titles, I'd pass along my old college roomate's comic: Boy Meets Hero

Chayne and Russel do a pretty nice job, IMHO...

I haven't read Archie comics in years.. I may have to look into them again.

Goldwater Sues to Remove Silberkleit as Archie Co-CEO:
  • the son of Archie co-founder John Goldwater insists, "Unless Silberkleit is removed as a director and an officer, the company -- an iconic American company -- is in serious danger of failing and being liquidated."

The suit brings to a head a struggle within the 73-year-old company that came to light in July, when Archie sued Silberkleit, seeking to remove her from its Mamaroneck, New York, offices because of what it described as "inappropriate and offensive language and behavior."

The company contends that Silberkleit's "offensive" behavior dates back to 2009, when she stepped into the co-CEO role following the death of her husband Michael Silberkleit, son of co-founder Louis Silberkleit. While the allegation that she interrupted a meeting and pointed to each of the four men in the room, shouting "PENIS, PENIS, PENIS, PENIS," has been the most widely reported, Archie has cited several instances of threats and harassment it insists amounts to "a pervasive, hostile work environment which is seriously and substantially impairing the company's operations."

Liquidation? I wonder if this means sales are down across the line?

If that's the case, I don't see how ousting Silberkleit would solve the problem.

If the company is in trouble wouldn't it make sense to at least consider whether the CEO was screwing up? <br>

Sure, but if it turns out that the popularity of the comics is just waning, then you can fire all the execs you like and still not save the company.

Personally, I think the company's just looking for any excuse to get rid of Silberkleit. This is just a battle between a bunch of heirs and a trophy wife. If she goes, and the company goes from "failing" to "super-profitable" overnight, I'd be suspiscious.

But what do I know? I just read the comics.
