Archer: 1999

I looked and couldn't find a thread.....

I was an Archer fan already and when they announced that the next season would be set in space and have "Alien" inspired ship I had a little geek-gasm.

So far it has been standard jokes you'd expect from an Archer series but with the added layer of just skewering the hell out of the tropes of science fiction writing. It's like Futurama with drinking and swearing. Okay, more drinking and swearing than Futurama, LOL.

Anyone else watching?

I'm a hhhhuuuuugggeee Archer fan, and this has been my favorite of the three anthology seasons so far. I'm just having a blast with the way they've been playing with the sci-fi tropes.

SPACE PHRASING!

This has definitely been my favorite season of the Dreamland, Danger Island, and 1999 coma plot. But, I'm REALLY wanting them to go back to his spy roots (which apparently they're doing for the next season).

I'm a sucker for figurative-exploration-of-a-character's-mind plots, so the way this last episode (and, presumably, the finale) are swerving back hardcore into the idea of the anthology seasons as a product of Sterling's psyche and his view of his friends and family rather than just a fun excuse to have radically different premises we shouldn't think about too hard is really making me happy, especially the way Archer's dreams and reality are starting to collide.

I watched this weeks episode last night and it was insane, in a good way.
All of the stupidity we expect "Tennessee titty twister" and then the added layer of the Cubert story line.
Trying to be spoiler free but I have to say that the last few minutes were nuts!

Yep, enjoying this season a lot. Didn't care for Dreamland, liked last year's island plot ok, and this year has been really good. Feels like they captured the team better than the previous two years where they weren't quite playing the right characters. But yeah, after this last episode, it will be interesting to see how they are putting it together and teeing it up for the last season...
