Rima Fakih, born in the Lebanese village of Srifa, near Tyre, to a prominent Shiite family, won the Miss USA title. Among her extended family members are officials in Hezbollah and Amal, who apparently have bred up this new weapon in the culture war.

They win. :shifty:

I just wanted to make everyone aware that there are already some nutcases trying to link her family to terrorism (Debbie Schlussel - who makes Michael Savage look sane and reasoned).

She's also been linked to pole dancing.

I'm not sure how the two are related.

Machine Gun Jubblies.

Obviously.

Has there ever been a Miss USA who was from Oklahoma? Or Virginia? Someone should start a thread then and connect either to terrorism or treason, because they could be related to Timothy McVeigh or Aldrich Ames, being white and all...

Well, actually some say her extended family is deeply involved with Hezbollah and Amal (with names), but that's not the point. Most people in the area she's from are.

She, however, went to Catholic schools in Beirut and New York - and she WON that pole dancing contest. Go girl!

But just for fun, check out the comment thread at the Superficial.

Good times. :)

So, what *is* the point :wtf:

Chances are very good that I had family fighting under the Nazi regime in WWII. Are you going to have me charged with War Crimes because of my extended relationship?

Heck no. One of my cousins was executed for war crimes at Nuremberg. It's no big deal to have war criminals in the family.

However, I find it interesting that none of the judges aimed a pointed question at her (like - "Would you support the extermination of the Jews?), whereas they zapped Miss Oklahoma with a question about the Arizona immigration law and zapped Carrie Prejean with a gay marriage question.

It shows how tolerant and welcoming of immigrants and Muslims this country actually is, as opposed the way extremist movements portray us.

This was a very, very bad way to announce the contest results because, as we already see, it's having a negative (and perhaps "desired") effect.

Congratulations to Rima Fakih.
