April Challenge - Homecoming

Gibraltar

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Hades’ Apex hung above the sinister gas giant like a gnat in the shadow of a dark sun.

The transporter materialized the group of four onto the station’s main concourse; three officers and one casket.

Sandhurst, Pell, and Lar’ragos were clad in dress uniforms, looking as uncomfortable as they did mournful. It had been a long journey to the Barisa system, a remote outpost along the Tzenkethi border.

Aldo Ramirez stepped forward hesitantly, placing a trembling hand upon the flag-draped torpedo casing. It had been seventeen years since he’d seen her.

“Thank you, Captain Sandhurst… for bringing my daughter home.”

Noooooooo!!! *echo*

This is horrible (not the story) but the plot. And forgive me for being so blunt but how dare you put out such a massive spoiler to your series? Who do you think you are? Besides the author, of course.

Well done, for the few words you had, though. (I didn't realize one-hundred words was this short) Very sad, but poignant.

All right! Back to the doom and gloom!

Wait a minute...I mean... :(

Seriously: a very mournful vignette, Gib. Is this your first drabble? What did you think of the form?

I like the form, and it's not as constraining as I'd feared. This would be my first drabble, because as you know, I have issues with brevity.

 I enjoyed this very well done poignant piece.

 My co-author would tell you that I share those issues. I've been known to take a couple hundred words to describe a single kiss.

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

That was a very expertly written piece. Right to the point and powerful. As for fitting it into your timeline, you could always say it was a dream or an inaccurate holodeck recreation.
