Apple unveil iPhone 4S, release dates for iOS 5 and iCloud

I'm not that fussed over the new iPhone (got a functional Blackberry that fulfils my needs) or iOS 5, but I am keen to start using iCloud.

That's "Cerie." I'm not sure where the name came from, and the original app's site has been redirected to the built-in version, and the rest of Google's search results are a glut of news from today.

Still seems awful similar to me.

I guess it seems odd because we just watched the 30 Rock ep on Netflix that had Jack trying to re-brand all the little personal microwaves because the previous name was offensive to certain countries.

Didn't realize Siri is already an app, anyone used it?
 
I dunno, after 15 months I really expected something that was better than the top Android devices on the market. I'm not sure how long Galaxy S2 has been out but it feels like a couple of months already.
 
Wow.. Apple's flagship has finally caught up with state of the art technology.. color me impressed ;)

It's as i always say.. Apple makes good products with innovative designs and ideas but on the technological side there's always something missing or not quite there yet. However it doesn't matter due to the best marketing department in the world and the huge fan base so they can get away with it.
 
Any word on an update to iTunes to not make it suck so hard? Yes I could use a third party program, but I'd rather just use the basic software and not have to fight it so much.

I downloaded the newest version last night, and Facebook went completely around the bend, coding messed up everywhere, and it was only Facebook too, the Quicktime update messed with something rather badly.
 
Seems disappointing. I think most sensible people will wait for the iphone5. Maybe they will change the hardware next time. Never liked the iphone4 design - not as sleek and polished as the 3G and 3GS.
 
The latest update for the Facebook on iPhone app has been crashing for me nonstop since updating it earlier this week. Anyone else having this problem?

I swore off iTunes years ago for this reason and haven't touched it since. I'm a bit shocked that a company whose mantra is "it just works" hasn't done anything to fix that pile of monkey dung software.
 
I don't use anything Apple or particularly care about their products one way or another, but I did find the market reaction to the press conference interesting. Over recent years, every such press conference has resulted in an endless parade of rent-a-quote analysts drooling over the potential positive financial impact of whatever was announced. This time round, the coverage was much more evenly balanced, with some positive analysts and some disappointed ones. It will be intriguing to see how that affects hot money flows; I have the feeling that a lot of money pushed into Apple stock in the months leading up to this launch, in the expection that there would be a phone with a new form factor. For those with money on the sidelines and who still rate Apple as an outperform, there could be a buying opportunity soon if that money outflows from Apple relative to the rest of the NASDAQ any time over the next week or so.
 
Apparently the new voice-command software for the iPhone translates roughly to "ass" in Japanese.

So the new system... is Ass. Gives a whole new meaning to Butt Dialing, eh?
