Apple iSlate is upon us?

Yes, you don't want to make the mistake and buy the wi-fi only version.

Given the prevelance of wifi hotspots at cafes, unis, hotels etc etc plus more and more people having them at home I'm wondering if the the 3G support in the IPadd (soon to be on the recieving end of a lawsuit from Fujistu over the name) is really that big a deal.

eh... well, i have an iTouch which is also limited to wifi and I'm continually frustraited at how many places I CAN'T get a connection. Cafes, hotels, etc... make you pay, or have a registered room.

The only free "cafe" type of place I know of is Panera.

As far as home wifi networks you can piggyback on, most people have gotten smart and locked them down.

And even if you find one that's not secure, just because it's not secure doesn't mean you're free to use it.

It's technically illegal to piggyback off of someone else's network. Before people cry BS that if it's unsecure you can use it, cases have already been prosecuted for exactly this.

You know how many of those places charge you to use their Wifi? You either have to subscribe or pay usage fees each time. The 3G 250MB plan at $15 to use Internet wherever is not a bad deal, in fact it makes this thing very useful all over the place, Wifi is not as prevalent as you think.
