This is a shout out to everyone wondering if Enterprise events are still valid, or we can expect V'Ger to show up. Everything is different in our new Trek universe. Jean-Luc Picard may never be born. Q might never meddle in human affairs. The Borg may never interfere in First Contact. That would mean that many profound differences can be unveiled whenever the creative team decides. So why introduce Khan as a villain ... again. It's time to tell the new story. Let Khan float forever, undiscovered. What do we need? A simple historical reference in a movie in passing and Kirk says, "Boy I'm glad I don't have to deal with that guy". Let's move on. Nothing exists until they say it does.
That having been said, we need more women. Where the hell are Ensign Rand and Nurse Chapel. Uhura could use some competition. There's the idea for the series. Star Fleet Academy, follows the lives of Rand, Chapel, Stiles and others under the tutelage of Captain/Admiral Pike. Four years and they're out and in Star Trek XIII.
