Anyone watching the Ip-Man trilogy

I have not seen the first two, but I did catch the third movie last week. Maybe I'm too used to the fast paced hollywood movies, but Ip Man 3's story progresses at a glacial speed. What's worse for me is that the story structure doesn't quite work.

Spoiler: Story/plot failures (huge spoilers so don't read unless you've seen the movie)

This is movie is actually a love story centered on Ip Man and his wife. But because the audiences are expecting a kungfu movie, so the writers spend a lot of time setting up multiple decoy villains for Ip Man to fight. So much time is spent that the main story is pretty much neglected till nearly the end of the movie. There was no time dedicated to building up the relationship and I did not feel any attachment towards Ip Man nor his wife (I don't even know her name!). Perhaps the character development was done in the first two movies. Anyway, all this leaves me feeling that Ip Man 3 ends with a set of totally unnecessary phyrric victories against strawmen villains.
