Anyone Stayed In Vulcan?

I've never been to Vulcan, but I've been to Riverside, IA. There wasn't much there that would warrant a whole vacation. I get the impression the same for Vulcan. I've been to Alberta, and there is a lot of nice stuff there, if you don't mind a bit of driving. The town is only an hour or so from Calgary, which is a nice town. Personally, I preferred Edmonton, which is a couple hours drive, but if you stay there for a few days, well worth it. Also, Banff isn't too far to see. If you go, take and post many pictures.

Sounds like a plan. Hubby saw the website and said yeah it would be a laugh... I think im slowly winning him over not that he would admit liking star trek but he was quite glued to the tv at my parents house.

May even turn a holiday into a "star trek" scenes holiday

Im from Calgary and have been to the town of Vulcan , to be honest, Im not sure its worth the trip just to see that. They have a visitor centre setup with a Star Trek theme, its got a model of the TOS Enterprise out front and they have some cardboard cut outs where you can stick your head in and take a picture ( you might have had to pay for that ataully, I don't recall for sure )

Inside they sell some startrek merchanidise , nothing really stood out as unique. Several stores on main street have cardboard cutouts of some of the cast decorating windows, but they are mostly sunbleached.

I agree with what was said above, if you want to see it, I plan to vacation somewhere close that you would enjoy, then day trip to Vulcan. Many vacation destinations in the rockies if you like sking or hiking. ( Local Plug :D) Calgary puts on an annual western themed fair and rodeo the second and third weeks of July that is quite fun.

Cheers,
Kytee

Come to Vulcan, MI, near the Wisconsin border. Small town but beautiful terrain, and an iron mine you can go down into.

We have a town named "Vulcan" near Liverpool in the UK. It is an ex-mining town that was destroyed by Thatcher in the eighties. The closure of it's colliery meant most of its residents were made unemployed overnight whilst any businesses there went bust due to lack of customers! With no other jobs to go to the populace soon turned to the flood of cheap heroin that arrived (with, I believe, the tacit approval of Thatcher's government. The heroin that flooded all mining communities in the UK prevented a mass uprising and subsequent collectivisation and sovietisation of our society. The Cold War could have ended so differentely...).

Desolate and desperate place.
