I'd buy it! But only if it told some of the story of Dr. Stavos Keniclius after the EW.
Naw, I'd by it regardless.
I read them earlier this year, from the end of March to the middle to end of August, with plenty of breaks in between. Like Rabid Trekkie, this was my introduction to the character Gary Seven; however, as I read them, I thought he was too "artificial", created just for this story. Then, the day I finished reading Vol. 2, later in the day, I decided to look at TrekBBS, which I hadn't been to in a while. (I know, shame on me! 
) Lo and behold, what do I see in the Trek Lit forum, but a thread about all the Gary Seven comics being compiled into a single volume. After further research, I found out that he was originally from a TOS Season 2 episode. So naturally, I had to watch it. It also made me see the Eugenics Wars novels a little differently than while reading them.

IIRC, he had to tread carefully because many ST fans would have had family members caught up in it.
Similarly, he avoided direct references to 9/11 when revising the manuscript of the second book. IIRC.
Didn't mind the first one, though that is mainly because I liked the Gary Seven and his companion. A lot of references in there that's true but overall I enjoyed it. The second book I enjoyed less...were there more?

there's a third Khan-centric book following him between "Space Seed" and TWOK.
Of course. The Eugenics War was over two books not one. Above I meant I enjoyed the third book less then the two with Seven in.
I just read through the part in the first book with Shannon O'Donnell is at Area 51, and I think I noticed a mistake. In the scene they are studying the communicator and phaser that were taken from Checkov in The Voyage Home, and one the devices is described as looking like a pistol, but I double checked on TrekCore, and it looked like they were both blocky and rectangular.
Having read the blurb for Elusive Salvation, that's what I keep thinking the book's about; Roberta and Rain, not Roberta and Seven.
I revived it since I'm reading the Khan books right now. I honestly didn't realize it was that old, I just did a search for The Eugenics Wars, and this was the first thread to pop up. I've decided to set up a seperate review thread so it can be included on the review thread webpage.

I read them a while ago and have mixed thoughts on them. First of all, I really dislike that they conflicted with the canonical version of the Eugenics Wars, trying to reconcile the Star Trek universe's fictional history with real history. I also found the actual "war" part of the series far less interesting than the build-up in the first novel. I also think the framing story in the TOS era should've been cut; it added nothing to the story and had no relevance to the main plot.
That said, even if I would prefer getting a hot war version of the Eugenics Wars, Cox's intersection of real history and the fictional behind-the-scenes stuff was interesting, although a few of his choices seemed off (like suggesting that the DY-100 was a top-secret experimental ship when the VGR episode "Future's End, Part I" established that it was public knowledge, per Rain Robinson having a photo and model of this ship class in her office). I also really loved seeing Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln again (since "Assignment: Earth" is a favorite TOS episode of mine).
The various Star Trek easter eggs were cool, although it did get a little heavy by the time all was said and done (but the callbacks to DS9's "Little Green Men" and The Voyage Home were classics).
I guess I'd say that I had fun and would recommend it to anyone curious, but I'm really glad that it's not canonical.
