Anyone near Thurrock in the UK?

I always find out about these things at the very last moment. Sigh.

Is there anyone on here who is near a town called Thurrock in the UK?

Colin Baker has written a book. And he's doing a book signing on Saturday at Waterstones here -

Unit 69, Lakeside Shopping Centre
GB - Thurrock RM20 2ZG

Naturally, I found out about it 1/2 hour after the store has closed, and I'm going to be gone tomorrow, so I can't order a copy from the store directly.

If anyone is close, would you mind getting me a copy signed by The Colin Baker tomorrow?

I know it's a long shot, but I can hope!

Anneke Wills and Paul Castle (from the Shooty Dog Thing podcast) will be signing copies of their books at the same time, but they aren't Colin.

I'm leaving in the middle of the night to go to a convention, and I can't postpone leaving, since I'm carpooling. I'm going to try to find someone here who can call early (with the time difference, it's 3 am here when Waterstones opens).

Quite close, in Chelmsford, but reliant on public transport so getting to Lakeside would be tricky.

OmahaStar, it's been my experience of Waterstones that they have extra copies of books signed by authors in their stores after the author has left. Maybe you could contact the store and ask them to send you a copy?

But you know you can just order signed copies online, right? Who Blackpool have some, as do Tenth Planet, and both ship worldwide.

If that fails, Waterstone's usually do keep extras back, so you could try getting in touch with them directly.

I'm baaaaack. I had fun at the convention, but that's for another post. I was able to call at 3 am using my cell phone (This was the first time I had dialed outside the states on it, and so I had a little trouble starting the call) ... But I talked with a bookseller, got an order in, and was able to get it personalized too. In total, it cost $23.77 USD, including shipping, and I should have it here in a week or two.
